
Northern Railways Launches Vande Bharat Train Service Between Katra and Srinagar
Jammu, June 8: Northern Railways officially began the commercial operations of the Vande Bharat Express between Katra and Srinagar on Saturday, according to officials.
The high-speed train, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6 from Katra, marks a significant milestone by connecting Kashmir to the rest of India via the railway network.
Passengers traveling between Katra and Baramulla expressed great excitement, many sharing that they had long been looking forward to the chance to journey to Kashmir by train.
The inaugural day of commercial operations proceeded without any issues, with all trains arriving at their respective destinations by evening, officials reported.
They noted a surge in public enthusiasm, as the majority of seats were booked within just a few hours of the train’s launch.
As per Northern Railway, two Vande Bharat train sets completed a total of four trips between Katra and Srinagar on the first day.
The train offers two classes of travel — Chair Car (CC) and Executive Class (EC) — with ticket fares set at ₹715 and ₹1,320, respectively. – (PTI)
