Downdetector received more than 5,000 outage reports in the U.S. and over 700 in India. The majority of users (79%) experienced issues with the website, while 18% encountered problems with video streaming. YouTube has not released an official explanation for the disruption yet.
Users worldwide, including in the US and India, are facing disruptions on YouTube, with the platform temporarily inaccessible. Many have reported seeing a black screen on both the website and mobile app. Problems include the homepage not loading properly and videos failing to play, despite stable internet connections.
The outage reached its peak at 12:15 IST, as reported by real-time monitoring site Downdetector, which logged over 5,000 complaints from the US and more than 700 from India. Of these, 79% were related to website issues, 18% involved video streaming problems, and 3% were linked to the mobile app.
YouTube has yet to acknowledge the outage or provide any details about its cause. As a result, thousands of users are unable to access their favorite content, including songs, movies, vlogs, and more, due to what seems to be a technical glitch.
Interestingly, while the Google-owned platform is still accessible via its website and mobile app, videos are taking unusually long to load and may face buffering issues. So far, there’s been no official update on when normal service will resume.
The incident triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with users confirming the issue on platforms like X (formerly Twitter). Many responded with humor, sharing memes, jokes, and videos to mock YouTube, Google, and their services. We’ve included some of the most entertaining posts below.
