
Srinagar: In light of the ongoing heat wave and rising temperatures in Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to declare summer vacations for schools starting from July 1, 2025.
In an exclusive conversation with Greater Kashmir on Thursday, Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the government is actively considering the announcement of summer holidays for schools beginning on that date.
“We are planning to announce summer vacation from July 1 of 2025 for one week. We will assess the weather condition before announcing any extension in the summer vacations,” Sakina Itoo told Greater Kashmir.
The statement comes amid the growing demand from the stakeholders for the announcement of summer vacation for the schools.
As already reported, an independent weather agency has predicted a forecast of intense heatwave till Saturday for Srinagar.
On Thursday, Srinagar recorded the highest June temperature in the last two decades.
Independent weather forecaster Faizan said that the mercury settled at 35.2 degree Celsius in Srinagar on Thursday.
