The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) 2025 is a government initiative designed to offer internship opportunities to young individuals in 500 top private sector companies across diverse industries. The program aims to connect classroom learning with practical, real-world industry exposure.
Overview of the PM Internship Scheme 2025:
Announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the scheme plans to engage around 1.25 lakh youth during 2024–25, with an ambitious target of creating one crore internship opportunities over the next five years. The initiative mainly focuses on supporting youth from economically weaker sections by providing them with valuable hands-on work experience.
Eligibility Criteria for PM Internship 2025
To be eligible, candidates must be between 21 to 24 years old, with relaxations for OBC, SC, and ST candidates. They must have completed 10th, 12th, or graduation, and their annual family income should be below ₹8 lakh. However, candidates with professional degrees such as B.Tech, MBA, or CA are not eligible.
For educational qualification-based eligibility:
- ITI candidates must have completed Matriculation + ITI in a relevant trade.
- Diploma holders need Intermediate + an AICTE-recognized diploma.
- Degree holders must have a Bachelor’s degree from a UGC/AICTE-recognized university.
PM Internship 2025 Application Process
Candidates can apply online via the official PM Internship Portal: pminternship.mca.gov.in.
Steps to Apply:
- Register by creating an account on the portal.
- Fill in profile details, including personal and academic information.
- Upload required documents, such as academic certificates and proof of family income.
- Wait for selection results – shortlisted candidates will be notified.
- No application fee is required for applying.
Benefits of the PM Internship Scheme 2025
Selected candidates will receive internships in top private companies across industries such as oil & gas, energy, hospitality, banking, and automotive. They will also receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000, with an enhanced stipend of ₹6,000 for the first month.
Interns will gain industry-specific skills and real-world exposure, along with government support under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
