Aadhaar verification: Big news! Now you will not have to provide Aadhaar photocopy at hotels and airports, UIDAI is bringing this new rule.
The government is preparing to introduce a new regulation to tackle data leaks and increasing fraud linked to Aadhaar. Under this rule, hotels, event planners, and various other organizations will no longer be allowed to store photocopies of Aadhaar cards. Instead, they will need to use updated digital verification methods.
Currently, the Aadhaar Act already prohibits keeping someone’s Aadhaar photocopy without a valid reason. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar told PTI that any institution involved in Aadhaar verification will now have to register for offline verification. This system will enable verification through QR code scanning or the new Aadhaar mobile app. He added that the rule will be enforced soon, emphasizing that its main goal is to eliminate paper-based verification.
UIDAI is testing an app
This new method of verification will also eliminate problems with intermediary servers. Organizations that require offline verification will be provided with an API (Application Programming Interface), allowing them to integrate this verification system into their software.
The UIDAI is currently beta-testing a new app. This app will facilitate verification without the need to connect to the central Aadhaar database each time. It can be used in places like airports, shops, and hotels. Kumar said, “This will simplify offline verification, reduce the need for paperwork, and ensure the security of users’ Aadhaar data.” Furthermore, the new app will allow users to update their addresses and add family members who do not have mobile phones.
Digital data will make work easier
This app has been developed with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act in mind and is expected to be fully implemented nationwide within the next 18 months. Additionally, this new technology will further strengthen user privacy and data security in Aadhaar-related services.
Furthermore, this change will eliminate the need for people to carry a photocopy of their Aadhaar card with them everywhere. They will be able to easily verify their Aadhaar through a mobile app. This is another important step towards Digital India.
