
J&K Govt Removes Education Requirement for Marriage Assistance Scheme, Extends Benefit to All Eligible Poor Girls
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has eased the eligibility criteria for the Marriage Assistance Scheme meant for girls belonging to economically weaker sections.
According to an order issued by the Commissioner Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, and reported by Kashmir News Corner (KNC), the government has approved a relaxation in the minimum educational qualification requirement of “8th Class Pass or equivalent” under the scheme.
This relaxation will remain in force until March 31, 2028, as a partial modification to Government Order No. 49-JK(SWD) of 2022, dated March 22, 2022.
The amendment, attached as Annexure ‘A’ to the original order, will take effect from April 1, 2025, the order stated. (KNC)
