JKBOSE discards old syllabus; Advises students to opt for the new syllabus in -2026
Jammu, Jan 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has officially discontinued the old syllabus that was earlier applicable to failed students. Candidates of Classes 10, 11, and 12 who had failed or were re-appearing under the old scheme had previously been granted multiple opportunities to clear their examinations.
However, in accordance with Board regulations, the old syllabus has now exceeded its validity period. As a result, no additional chances will be provided to failed or re-appear candidates to sit for examinations under the outdated scheme.
As per a notification issued by JKBOSE, affected students have been instructed to prepare according to the revised syllabus for the upcoming annual private or bi-annual examinations scheduled later this year, following the completion of summer zone exams and the announcement of annual results.
The Board stated that the notification has been released well in advance to allow students enrolled under the old syllabus sufficient time to transition to the new course of study for annual private or bi-annual examinations in 2026 and beyond.
Officials also noted that only a very small number of students remain who have yet to pass examinations under the old scheme.
