Be on the lookout if you drive an older car in Noida or Greater Noida—vehicles over 10 years old for diesel or over 15 years for petrol are now being targeted. In a joint operation, the Gautam Buddha Nagar Traffic Police and the ARTO department have already impounded more than 50 such vehicles during roadside checks. And the crackdown is just getting started: starting November 1, 2025, these older cars will be barred from refueling at any petrol pump in Noida.
Noida Traffic Police Enforcement
According to DCP Traffic Lakhan Yadav, specialized teams are stationed at all major junctions throughout the city. Officers inspect the age of every vehicle entering or leaving Noida, and any diesel car older than 10 years or petrol car older than 15 years is immediately seized. This operation is being carried out in full collaboration with the ARTO department.
Delhi government changed the decision
This step has been taken in view of the increasing level of air pollution in Delhi NCR. Although the Delhi government had announced to implement this rule from July 1, but on the evening of July 3, citing technical reasons, it was postponed for the time being. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that now old vehicles will be banned on the basis of pollution level instead of their age.
Noida Police will not change the rules
But the Noida administration is not in a mood to back down at the moment. The officials have made it clear that this rule will be strictly implemented in Noida. In such a situation, the coming days may be full of difficulties for those vehicle owners who are still careless about the rules. If you are also driving such a vehicle, then look for an alternative from now on, because from November neither petrol nor relief will be available.
